teams.ie is an Irish sports news aggregator that collects and indexes sports articles from publicly available RSS feeds, and provides fixtures, results and league table data from licensed third-party data providers. We are based in Ireland and operate under Irish and EU law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address — used to create and identify your account
  • Preferences — your selected sports, teams, countries and notification settings
  • Country — used to personalise TV listings (Ireland or UK)

We do not collect your name, address, payment details, or any other personal information.

3. Why we collect it (legal basis)

  • Contract performance — your email and preferences are needed to provide the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — we may use anonymised usage data to improve the site

4. How we use your data

  • To authenticate you and maintain your session
  • To personalise your news feed based on your preferences
  • To show relevant TV listings for your country
  • To send you sports news digests (only if you opt in)

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for profiling.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your email and preferences are stored securely on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the EU. See Supabase Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required to keep you signed in and remember your session. These cannot be declined.
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use the site. These are only set if you accept cookies.

7. Article content

All news articles displayed on teams.ie remain the copyright of their original publishers. We display only the article title, a short excerpt and a thumbnail image as provided in the publisher's RSS feed. Each article links directly to the original source. If you are a publisher and wish to opt out, please contact us.

8. Data retention

  • Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active
  • If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
  • Anonymised usage statistics may be retained indefinitely

9. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests

10. Changes to this policy
